art reclaims what had once been the role of religion...

  1. Art does help us understand a lot by looking at a paintings you can tell what that person was feeling and what was going on in that time. It helps you understand the past and the present if you look at art from the past and art from now it has changed a lot and that’s because a lot has changed in the way people live. Art from the past gives you and understanding about the way they lived it puts you in their place and time at that moment it puts you in the artist’s mind and it makes you think. Why?

  3. I think art does help us feel the rush of life because it helps us express our inner self that no one seems to understand that part of us that we hide because we think that people will judge us if we are a little different. I dont see what art has to do with religion but i mean i guess it fits in that category. They had used picture like figures for you to see what is was like back then and what and how people lived. That was all they knew back in the day church and the stories that were told and the pictures that people did for them to get the point of the whole thing. So art makes us feel better about our life and gives us something to look forward to in our everyday life and to express ourself in any way possible before time runs out and you sit back wishing you could of or you should of did something but u didnt so now you live life wondering untill you pass.

  4. Art is a consolation for mortality. It makes it better to know that millions of years after we die, the remains of our life through the finer arts will be able to give insight to the newer generations. It reclaims the role of religion because when those newer generations explore the pieces we left behind it will give explanation as to why things are the way they are.

  5. Art in many ways helps me feel the rush for example music helps me get through things depending on my mood and the situation at hand, but there will always be a song that relates to the way I'm feeling or music overall will just change my mood and help move me along. Art can also help with expression which like a lot of people I know do with religion, so I can see how art replaces religion.

  6. Art can give us something to believe in. It can explain things in life. I don't think art has exactly taken the role of religion but it can be just as important. Art can help you realize that one day you will be gone, but you can leave something behind. That thing could be a child, a painting, or anything else really. Art lets us express feelings that may not agree with religion. Religion is kind of closed off whereas art is open ended, open minded, and free.

  7. I think what Simon Schama is saying is. Art make us understand life better. Art is the gift of life. Art has it ways of expressing it self that humans can not. Art brings light and brightening up the dark times in life. It make life enjoyable. Art has many forms than just one. Art is the best way for one person to tell another person how they fell without speech. Art can be any thing that it want to be.

  8. I think that this quote is saying how art had a deeper meaning and it’s a way for people to express themselves freely. Art is a way for people to be who they want to be. I think that art helps us with our own identities and that it will be around forever. In the future we have our art to symbolize who we are or who we once were. It’s a way to summarize what describes us. Like to musicians their art is their music. In the end when our life we have that art and it’s something that we would be remembered for. Religion and art relate to eachother because people would also express themselves through their religion

  9. I think art is all around us and will continue to be all around us forever. Art comes in different forms. Whether its in a job you do very good or the way you live life. I dont know what art has to do with church but im guessing the art of church is how everyone comes together to praise what they believe in together so nicely (idk). Art will always be around us and we will never see it go away. You can probably argue that art is life in a way because everything we use and everything we do has art in it.

  10. I definitley agree with Simon Schama about how “art helps us feel the rush”. It’s a way to express ones feelings and say what cannot be said. I believe that art can come in different forms but all have the same purpose. This purpose is to explain a persons thoughts on a certain topic or issue. Art can tell stories, explain mysteries, and even explain the details of someone’s life. It’s a perfect way to show how your feeling in any way possible, especially when words can’t do the job.

  11. My writing is what i hold most dear to me. It allows me to self express myself. It is my craft. I know that when i leave this earth that when people look at my writing they will understand me better. I Am my writing. My kids and other people will see that there is depth to art and how much it means to not only me but those who appreciate art.

  12. I highly agree with the historian Simon Schama. I believe that there are many different types of different things that you could consider art to be. I think your most prized art is what ever you do to make yourself feel like the happiest person on earth. What’s so special about art is that it doesn’t have to be specific; it’s what ever you want it to be. For example poems, jewels, even your cloths. My art is shown through me poems. When I write I can express myself and create new ideas and hope that who ever explores my mind through my poetry would learn something about themselves. Art helps you express yourself, live your life, expand you imagination. You don’t have to be an artist to create art. The good thing about art is that it reminds us about our past, helps us live our present, and creates out future. When we past away off this earth our art will live on forever.
