The judge in this case should have acted in a professional manner. Whether or not he intended to offend the people it occured. I myself feel offended at the incident.Does it mean if you support an African American in power that you are more likely to be arrested? The removal of the photos was in the best intrest of the judge and the county. Some type of consequence should have presented for the slander against President Obama. The blatant disrespect is not only occuring in Judge Tom Head's courthouse. To show people that it is offensive to not only African American's but also to supporters of President Obama some form of apology should be offered to the accused.
I feel as though the judge didn't mean blatent racial disrespect, but I think he knew that the media and other people would have a field day. With Obama being African American and the seven people arrested being the same race it gives room for bigotry and racist remarks. I don't find it to be offensive, to me a shirt is a shirt. If the african americans had bob marley shirts on, people would try to come to the conclusion that people who like Bob Marley are likely to be arrested. I think the judge was just following a trend by displaying these photos. I Don't think he meant wrong, but I think he knew exactly what he was doing.
In my opinion I think the judge had something against obama supporters. He could have had wanted John Micane to win and just didn’t like Obamas ways. I also belive maybe he didn’t want Obama to win presidecy. Or maybe he could also be racist seeing how they were all black not one person was white and they all had a black presidents shirt on. He was also taking advantage of his power as a judge because they did nuthing wrong from what we know. I don’t think an appology is good enough for what he did I think he should at least be on probation or house arrest and lose money form his pay. If there was a black judge that did something like that they would more or so lose there job, go to jail, or at least a couple hours of probation. I wonder what a lot of his pers said about the situation. Many people in his job could have also known what he was up to he is a judge after all. I bet the people that were arrested were very offended and highly upset about the situation. If I were them I would strongly suggest filling a suit agiant the judge because they did nothin worng.
I had to reread this article a few again carefully because there were parts that I missed the first time. The part that really got to me was how the article just had to mention that the 7/9 people were wearing Obama T shirts and were black. It makes me feel that this judge tried to make African Americans look bad and trying to point out that all black people that are criminals are supporters of Obama which isn’t necessarily the case. The fact that this was a judge also plays a part in this whole situation being wrong. Even if he’s not an Obama supporter and he may or may not be racist I believe that what he did was pretty immature. This just makes him look bad. It makes me wonder if the majority of these victims were arrested were white if this judge would’ve handled the situation differently.
I don’t know why these people were arrested but to say it was racially charged depends on interpretation. Just because they had on Obama t-shirts doesn't mean it was racially charged. Maybe they were arrested because they like Obama. The fact that it was a white judge doesn't help the matter of racial prejudice. Just because Republican supporters don't get arrested kind of has nothing to do with anything. I would like to know why there was a need to post the pictures on a bulletin board in the courthouse. This guy had to have known that people would take this display racially. The display was done in bad taste and if he apologizes, the topic should be dropped.
This actions was very unprofessional by Mr.Head. In addition it was poor judgment on Mr.Head part. Mr.Head decide that he was going to arrest Obama supporters on his own part. This action has made a lot of people upset, obviously there is still a lot of racism going on. I don't think that Mr.Head should lose his job but something need to be done. There is still change that need to be done to eradicated racism in the world. My conclusion on this matter is that there is always going to be two sides to everything. Maybe it was it mistake or maybe it was out of hate that Mr.Head arrest this group of Obama supporters. In addition many people have read this and ask was Mr.Head action justifiable. Who know what really happen at the scene.
I feel that this article was interesting because seven of the nine that were all arrested were black and when I read the article it seemed as though he put the photos up as if he was acknowledging the arrests. This seems very racist to me and knowing the judge was let off the hook kind of makes me wonder. If he was black and did the same thing with pictures of white arrests would he have been off the hook then? I dont think so because i feel a lot of the times when racial discrimination happens the consequences usually are more punishing for black people than they are for whites. I feel this is because of racism still going on today.
The judge was unprofessional with his actions involving the Obama supporters. He belittled them by placing their pictures on the bulletin board. He obviously has a racial problem with the nations leader and punishes his supports by embarrassing them, so I believe that he should be stripped of his title. Because his unprofessionalism should not be overlooked, because if it was the other way around a couple years ago a black man would be facing life in prison for doing such thing about George Bush when he was in office. I just believe that justice needs to slap him across the face with the band pimp hand of the law.
I believe it was truly disrespectful for Judge Tom Head to post the arrest photos of nine people on a courthouse bulletin board. Even though he claims he “never meant any racial disrespect”, there is no doubt in my mind that he intentionally did it to prove a point about African-American’s in the U.S. Obama supporters everywhere could have been offended by this act and yet he received no punishment. The Lubbock County Judge seems like he had a lot of racial views against Obama supporters and black supporters at that. The racial tone that his actions showed was extremely strong and his excuse about posting items on the bulletin board as “a tool” was just unacceptable.

Everybody makes mistake but this is a unforgivable action by Mr.Head.
I believe his actions were very inappropriate. His whole demeanor was racial activated and as supporter of President Barack Obama as well as an African American I was exceedingly offended. There may be an argument whether to say this was done purposely or accidentally but as a judge he should have made his self clear on what his purpose for doing so was. And why were they arrested in the first place, was it because they were wearing and Barack Obama shirt, or because they were black? These are some of the questions going through my head. Even if he didn’t mean it in a disrespectful way, which is possible, it looks as if he was triggering African American supports of Obama. I think that an apology was necessary but even after that, people would look at this judge in a different way. A big lesson in this would be to make yourself clear and watch what you say and do because everybody won’t think the way you do. So when you are making a point make sure it doesn’t offend anybody.
I can’t say that this man is a racist and deliberately did this but at the same time I don’t think it was coincidence that he posted the pictures then the print outs. He shouldnt even think posting the two should have been tolerable he not only offended the people but the people who stand by obama. If he isnt racist this makes him look as if he is and he should of thought about all these consequences before his actions and seeing that he is a white republican this makes it evn worse. Posting these things like shouldn’t even be acceptable for a man in his position he should have looked at it from all angles and decided against it. If it wasnt meant to offend anyone it still did and that shouldnt be acceptable.
