Civil Rights and Obama

Read this article. Where should he start? What priority would you give the groups according to what you see in your community?

  1. I think that Obama should begin with the public education system, because I believe students following me, since I'm a senior, should have a better education because teachers tend to skip over things because of lack of resources. Then hospitals should be next because they are the most important resource in society. Because people get sick all the tme and need help and with our current health care some people aren't able to get the proper treament for them as well as their families. And it's unfair that if somebody is in need of treament and have to suffer because they aren't covered for the treatment saving a life shouldn't have a price on it. Now transpertation is where I close my top three issues, because when I get my vehicle I'm not tryna pay an arm and a leg for gas. Its getting out of hand with the price of gas it really is.

  2. President Obama should address the issue of racial profiling and discrimination in our society today. A recent example is of when Gates was arrested for "breaking into" his OWN home. I think that racicial profiling is used on every minority. There is still and always will be preconceived notions about racial relations in this country. There should be laws in place to prevent people being judged just on race. I bet people will try to get around this and try to cite free speech, the First Amendment and whatnot but that's not enough.

  3. There is just so much that has to get done and there just seems like there is just not enough time to get everything done. I think that Obama should start with the more important issues that seems to be causing problems to esculate. There will always be problems with things like discrimination but it would be better if there were laws against discrimination for people to get jobs and things like that but it would be peoples own personal opinions anyways. In my community there is alot of things that need to be fixed but sense it's a small community it would be easier but still things do get accopmlished. We need our rights and there will always be a imposing side.

  5. If I had to choose a starting point, i definitely choose voting. Voting is a very important because the outcome affect everyone. There are a lot of theories and conspiracy people about voting. I do think the Bush-Administration mess up the voting system process. In the election that happen in 2004 change the views of how people tally the votes. Many states do run a clean voting system but one corrupt states affect all. The other issues about discrimination in education is a concerns as well. To fix that problem, every school staff should be racily diverse. A lot of issues do come out from schools not haven enough minorities on there staff. Some people might lose a job because they gay or lesbian. Everything becomes a factor when race is involved

  7. I feel that Obama trying to give civil rights back is a great idea. Obama giving civil rights back will have us respect him more because he chose to give us our civil rights. Also i think that it Obama should begin resolving the most important Discrimination problems. Discrimination will never go, but its best if we work hard to stop a lot of it. Obama is working on this problem and i am happy he is because we all want our rights for equality. And by Obama working on it is only going to help us become more equal in rights and this will help bring discrimination down, but wont make it go away

  8. Everyone in America knows that we are way overdue for change. I believe it’s a lot that needs done but it will only happen if we all work together to become a better country. There’s definitely a few major places that Obama should start and I think one of the major ones is are educational program in this country. The children of today are the future of tomorrow and if they are not well-equipped, then we are seriously in trouble. I also think racial-profiling is a major issue in America today and something really needs to be done. I believe the issues in our community are extremely important, but once we take care of the issues in our country, it will eventually ripple down.

  9. A lot of people are expecting Obama to make a change. But if he was to focus on Harrisburg I wouldn’t want him to focus in discrimination and giving people a fair chance to vote, because that’s something that going to be around. What I do want him to focus on is getting out young people off the street. The young people are our future and if we don’t get them off the street then there will be little voters in the future. I believe that racism isn’t just the color, but where you’re from, who you hang around, and even what you look like. It’s been around for a long time, I do feel that Obama does need to tackle this situation but there are more bigger problems that we need to tackle.
